Comet 17P/Holmes expands

Comet Holmes keeps getting bigger! Here's a stack from 2nd Nov which I've inverted for clarity - definite elements of a tail are visible in this one....

Comet Holmes Negative

This is the same frame - I've done as much as I can here to keep detail at all levels - this is a huge dynamic range compressed into a jpeg....

Comet Holmes

And here's a close-up...

Comet Holmes

This widefield shot taken on 3rd Nov shows just how big the comet has become...

Really neat!!! I enjoy your posts on the comet and pictures as well. I don't know if I have seen it or not - I generally end up looking at 2 very bright start in the Northeast (I'm located near Dallas, Texas.). On the 1st I witnessed a LARGE falling star, and it startled me! I fully expected to hear the sound of fireworks (that's how big it was, blue and white with a tail and some red), but soon realized it was a falling star. MUCH closer than the many others I've seen. Since 17P was hit, do you think we will see a lot of falling debris? Have fun with your research/studies. I have added you to my frequent watch list so I can see more photos! Take care.....
